World Business Cycles Unit
The Unit carries out scientific and research work in the field of: • analyses of developmental trends in the global economy, including the problems of globalisation and development of the knowledge-based economy; • analyses and forecasts of world-wide business condition, with a particular consideration of international trade; • subject matters of development of individual countries and regions of the world and their economic relations with Poland; • analyses and forecasts of the world commodity markets; • market research for the purposes of enterprises; • assessment of the impact of external determinants on the economic situation and foreign trade of Poland; • analyses of development trends in economic cooperation with foreign countries and Poland's foreign economic policy, considering the structural changes and formation of international competitiveness and competitive ability of Poland's economy; • analyses of the Polish export sector, including economic condition of exporting enterprises and efficacy of pro-export policy instruments; • analyses of foreign direct investment and the role of foreign-owned entities in Poland's economy; • analyses of the Polish industrial sector, including the problems of restructuring, public assistance and industrial policy in the context of EU industrial policy; • problems of energy supplies and energy safety of Poland in the light of international determinants and Community policies; • the subject matters of stimulating development of the knowledge-based economy in Poland in the spheres of enterprise, education and raising quality of human capital, innovation and technical progress, ICT and in the regional policy.
